Well it may not be a clouded yellow year everywhere, but down in Cornwall in early September 2006 we encountered large numbers. These photographs were taken outside Polruan, on the coast path. As you can see, I got lucky, and got a partial "wings-open" shot, very lucky for a butterfly that always settles with it's wings shut! The bottom picture shows the female abberation "helice" which at Polruan appeared to be about 5% of the population.
