Common Lizards are just that, common and widespread in Britain and Ireland. Often seen basking on warm banks, or pieces of wood or stone, they are often heard as they slip away and rustle the undergrowth, before you see one. The lizards in these pictures were basking, on a fairly cloudy day, on a wooden fence, soaking up the warmth in the Forest of Dean.
