Greater Tongue Orchid

This strangely shaped orchid has only flowered in two sites in the UK, one in the Channel Islands, and one in south Devon, in a hay meadow that was regularly cut in May / June, but which was not cut, and then up popped a number of stems of this Mediterranean Orchid. Maybe, if climate change continues, it will become more common, until then, the best place to see it in the UK is at Wakehurst Place in West Sussex, where a number may be seen in early May.
