It is unusual to get so close to a Kestrel on the ground, but this bird was at Lydney Docks on the river Severn and had been well and truly buffeted by the wind and rain of the earlier storm. I'm pleased to say, I believe it made a full recovery.

These three images were taken at Aust Warth, whilst waiting for a Short-eared Owl to show. It didn't, but the Kestrel perched and preened and spent a considerable time giving great views.
