Another species of helleborine that is closely related to others, in this case the Dune Helleborine. This species is endemic to Holy Island of the north east coast of England, just south of Berwick-on-Tweed, where it grows in the dune slacks of the "Snook" part of the island, at the landward or western end. The total population is estimated to number approximately three hundred plants, and when I visited on the 16th July the visible flowers were already starting to be passed their best. It is a small plant that only carries a few flowers, when compared to the crowded spikes of the Dune Helleborine, and is diminutive in stature.
