One of our most strange looking orchids, the Lizard Orchid is very often found on golf courses, the most famous colony being at Sandwich in Kent. These plants like a well drained, chalky soil, and it is often found in fairly long grass, as in these photographs, although I have seen a photograph of it growing on a lawn. These pictures were taken in Somerset.
