One of the commonest of our large fritillaries, The Silver Washed is characteristic of woodland rides across the south and west of the UK where it has been experiencing something of an expansion when set against the decline of the last century, although it is known to have been deliberately released on a number of sites, in Warwickshire, and possibly Cumbria.
