To an extent the jury is still out on these plants, growing at Kenfig NNR in South Wales, adjacent to the Port Talbot steel works. Formerly treated as a species, Young's Helleborine is now regarded as a distinct subspecies of Broad Leaved Helleborine. This variety is to be found in South Wales, the North East of England and Lanarkshire and Midlothian in Scotland.
